Description
It's reminiscent of a Waco biplane, only smaller, lighter, more powerful, and far more maneuverable. And if you've happened to see it, considering yourself lucky - it's a one of a kind machine that dazzles crowds around the country.
Officially, it's known as the Demon 1 biplane, the brainchild of Kyle Franklin and his late father. Already a well established performer on the air show circuit, Kyle is known for his energetic and sometimes humorous routines that leave men, women, and children alike grinning ear to ear. Christened "Dracula", the recently completed aircraft maintains the traditional themes that Franklin has maintained throughout his career.
The Capital Air Show was the first time I had ever seen Dracula in action, and it was a routine I will not soon forget. Of all the pictures I took of the plane that day, I consider this one - with the Demon 1 emerging from a billowing cloud of smoke - as the best. Just looking at it makes my pulse quicken.
