Artist's Description

Instrument Meteorological Conditions... fancy FAA-speak for "can't see what's outside my windows". Most pilots I know will simply tell a controller they're "IMC right now," or may even go further away from that syllable-nightmare by announcing "I'm in the clouds." But the concept is the same - their eyes are on their instruments, and they're using them to safely fly in an environment where they can't see a thing.

This pilots of this 777 were under IMC less than five seconds before this picture was taken. Up to a second or two beforehand, all I could see was gray, which was likely all that the flightcrew was seeing. Makes you appreciate just how much skill the boys and girls of these big planes have.
