Artist's Description

Normally, I use a blurred background to convey a sense of an objects speed. It's nothing new; it's a trick that's been used for as long as photography has been around. But to convey that sense of velocity WITHOUT using that old medium... now that's a trick.

This is the latter portion of VFA-122's fly by of the crowd at SF Fleet Week. It's hard to blur the background clouds that are perhaps a couple miles away, but in its blazing hot 700 mph pass, the Super Hornet is trailing condensation as it would only do at such a blistering pace. While not a full blown vapor cone, I still love this picture for the undeniable illustration of how fast these jets can get.
