Description
"Retro Liveries" are quite the thing to see at an airport ramp. There sits the plane in question, the titles on the aircraft identifying it as one belonging to the airline in question, but yet it's SO different. It makes one pause, take in the sight, and perhaps question the carrier's history.
Which is kind of the point. When an airline is proud enough to acknowledge it's roots, there's a history there worth looking into. Airlines that survive long enough to even think about painting a retro scheme on one of their planes usually have a colorful story festooned with ups and downs, accomplishments and failures, high points and low points, and everything in between. All that makes an air carrier who they are in the present, and perhaps hints at where they are trying to go in the future.
As for the short term future, "Friend Ship" is heading for Southern California in this picture. I purposely casted the background in Black & White to emphasize the Airbus A320. It is interesting to note that ALL the planes in this picture are United Airlines.
