Artist's Description
Backlit-Is-A-Sin be darned, I love putting a subject right in front of the sun. There's just something awesome about creating an artificial eclipse and what kind of effect results from the man made corona. It's also a challenge to get the timing JUST RIGHT with something doing 140 knots across the sun.
But in researching the title of this print, I also discovered that "Corona" means "Crown" in Latin! How appropriate considering the subject is a Boeing 747, arguably the king of kings in the heavyweight commerical aviation world!
In this shot, the 747 is sailing in for final into SFO. The reflected light of the sun bouncing up from the water is a huge bonus, adding further drama to an already dramatic sight. It's just too bad the seagull on the mudflats below couldn't be bothered to take a moment to take in the sight. *wink*
About Alex Esguerra

That's what I try to do with my photos. Besides proximity, I aim to convey a story or stir up the emotions within the viewer when they gaze upon my work. Here's hoping you enjoy your little stay in my...
