Description
References list that more examples of this plane (better than 60,000... that's NOT a typo) have been made than any other in history. That alone should say enough. Designed with the student in mind, with 172 is the perfect blend of someone just learning the trade. It has good agility and performance, possesses docile and predictable flight characteristics, and is incredibly tough. I should know as I got my instrument rating in it. It gives a student just enough to get things done without giving too much to bite him or herself with. Pilots have been learning or just enjoying the joys of flight in the 172 since 1955, and the production lines don't show a hint of stopping anytime soon. Current models keep up with the advances in technology, sporting the latest in avionics.
This picture was the first attempt of mine at air to air work. With my 100-400mm lens in hand, me and another pilot trailed behind a friend of ours who was taking his very first flight lesson. As we passed well off his left wing in our speedier Trinidad, I managed to snag this profile picture of him cruising along on the way to the practice area. I thought it a perfect image of the perfect stalwart trainer.
