Description
Aviation as a whole is largely a group effort, and this is especially true in commercial aviation. Look closely at airliner's turnaround and one can't deny the Herculean effort that is done thousands of times a day by people that most passengers don't give a second thought. Once the plane is offloaded, an small army descends to get it ready for the next leg. Mechanics wrench on the big jet, cabin cleaners clean the interior, caterers restock food and drink, bag handlers get the bags loaded, and passengers are processed and ushered aboard.
It's even more eye-opening when you consider that it is not uncommon for those people have as little as half an hour to get their jobs done! And yet they do it, time and time again, safely and efficiency, They are truly the unsung heroes of the commerical aviation industry, where the efforts of the supporting personnel are just as much everything as those of the flight and cabin crews.
So it is with pride that TnGAP presents this homage to those men and women that keep the aviation wheels turning. In this case, the focus is on the last ground personnel to have a hand in the turnaround of this 737. Having pushed it off the gate and given the big bird a final safety check, one of them holds up the flagged nose gear pin for the pilot to see. That "Remove Before Flight" item is the last safety assurance the Captain needs before taxiing out, and he is acknowledging he understands he's good to go with a thumbs up.
