Artist's Description

A low level stratus layer may hinder general aviation pilots, but it usually does nothing to stop a large commercial aircraft from getting to it's destination. Equipped with hi-tech navigational equipment, airliners simply ride invisible radio beams or preset GPS points all the way down to the runway. They simply shoulder their way through the soup.

Such is the case with this 747. Punching thru the residual morning fog that hugs the ground, it illustrates it's capability quite clearly as it cuts a hole through the gray. I love this picture for the fact that the stratus has the appearance of trying to cling to the wings and airframe, as if the muck is trying to fight back and keep the pilots blind. But technology and the skills of the flightcrew prevail.

That's what I try to do with my photos. Besides proximity, I aim to convey a story or stir up the emotions within the viewer when they gaze upon my work. Here's hoping you enjoy your little stay in my...
